FINANCIAL AID PROGRAM

St. Mary's Institute offers needs-based grants and scholarships to eligible new and returning students. To see if you qualify, please complete the online grant and aid application.

Our in-house Financial Aid deadline is April 15th.

Please note: Our Early Childhood and Pre-K programs are ineligible for financial aid as our tuition rates are (in most cases) less than comparable daycare programs in the region.

BEACON OF HOPE SCHOLARSHIP

The Beacon of Hope Scholarship is a needs-based program open to all students in grades 1-12 who are currently enrolled in a Catholic School in the Diocese of Albany.  The award is $ 1,500 per year for three years.

In addition to completing the FACTS Grant & Aid application by April 15, applicants must complete the Beacon of Hope Parent Application and request a recommendation from the school principal

Awards for the Beacon of Hope Scholarship are determined by a selection committee of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Albany.

KENNETH AND THELMA LALLY PARTNERSHIP IN CATHOLIC EDUCATION

The Kenneth and Thelma Lally Partnership in Catholic Education (Lally Fund) is a financial aid program for Grade 1-12 students that are enrolled in an Albany Diocesan Elementary or Secondary school and have completed the FACTS grant & aid online process.

Only completed applications (as designated by FACTS) are included in this financial aid allocation process. This form of financial aid is strictly based on family need. The award amount is $750. The deadline is April 15.

Notification: Round 1 recipients are determined in May for the following school year. A letter is sent to all of the families receiving aid in Round 1. The letter clearly states that receipt of the scholarship is predicated on the student being enrolled in the fall at one of the Albany Diocesan schools. Eligible families that did not receive aid in Round 1 are also notified by letter and the letter states that they are still eligible for aid if funds become available in the Fall.

Verification & Round 2: In late September or early October, all Round 1 recipients will be notified. If a Round 1 recipient selects not to attend, the funds are then allocated to the next neediest eligible applicant verified as enrolled in FACTS. The parent/guardian is sent a letter informing them of the financial aid awarded and the school is sent an e-mail with the final list of Lally recipients.

GEORGE AND MARY KREMER FOUNDATION GRANT

George and Mary Kremer embraced their Catholic faith throughout their lifetimes and were faithful witnesses of Jesus Christ in generously sharing their resources with others in need. George, born in New York City, always remembered with fondness the religious women who were part of his youth. Mary was the middle child of a devout Ohio Catholic family who, despite very modest means, made Catholic education for their children a priority.

Since 1985, The George and Mary Kremer Foundation has been committed to providing Catholic elementary schools in the continental United States with tuition assistance grants for children from financially challenged families.

St. Mary's Institute is proud to partner with the George and Mary Kremer Foundation to provide a total of $10,000 in tuition grants for SMI students. To be considered for a Kremer grant, families must prove financial need by completing a free and reduced lunch form. Families that meet income guidelines will be reviewed by the school Admissions office and families will be asked to complete a grant application. As with our other scholarship programs, families should complete their application by April 1. Grant awards are a minimum of $1,000 per student.

If you feel you qualify financially for this grant program and would like to be considered for future funding, please contact the school office at (518) 842-4100.
